Balkan Culture

This essay is part of  a directed research project which explores Traditional Serbian Folklore in Music and Dance. This study allowed me to dive into Eastern European culture, into an aspect which is particularly unique in this area of the world. It was amazing to experience this firsthand while in the Balkans in summer 2019.

05 International Business Management Competency

Primark in South Korea

For our final project in International Business Management, several students and I conducted a total market study on the consumer landscape in South Korea, and determined how well Primark, an international clothing company, would thrive in the South Korean market. I was primarily responsible for conducting the entire risk analysis section of the report, as well as the infrastructure considerations in South Korea. We learned how to gather data on Primark and the South Korean market landscape and were able to effectively estimate the company's probable outcome. I learned about all of the many considerations a company must take into account when entering a foreign market.

06 International Marketing Competency

Wet n' Wild in Europe

For our final project in International Marketing, my group and I learned to analyze consumer markets by conducting a full market research study for four countries in Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway) using 50 different variables to determine which international market would be the most suitable for Wet n' Wild Cosmetics. We used several international research data bases to plot 50 data points for each country, and used a numerical scoring system to rank the qualitative data points. This helped us to more objectively conclude which European market would best support the cosmetics from Wet n' Wild. The work was divided equally among 4 students.

Un Musée Virtuel

This group project is a virtual museum visualizing the role of women throughout history in literature and art. My partners and I found different examples of paintings, photography, sculptures, and advertising to explain the perception of women in society. We described each piece and linked the themes from the artwork to themes from the various literary works we studied. Gallery #1 is Oppression, #2 is Women in Advertising, and #3 is the Unconventional Woman.

For this presentation I learned about the unique history of the company, product line, organizational structure, and international marketing strategy as it continues to dominate the global cosmetics industry. I also explored the important assets that the company possesses, and predicted how well it will use these to its advantage in the future to capture even more market share.
